RECOMMENDED TOOLS

When creating Closed Captions for delivery to Video Services, we recommend using one of the professional Closed Caption/Subtitle authoring tools listed below. Please also be sure to follow the Closed Captions Specifications in our UMG Video Services File Specifications.

CLOSED CAPTIONING ISSUES

  • Video file submissions containing embedded Closed Caption tracks will be rejected. Closed Caption and Subtitle assets must be delivered as a separate .scc or .ttml files.
  • Captions must be synced to the video/audio content. 
  • Caption Placement must be center positioned in the lower third. If the caption event will cover any on screen text or essential content, it must be moved to the upper third. 
  • The first In Point must be 12 frames after Picture Start and last Out Point must be 12 frames before Picture End. 
  • WPM must be below 400. ​
